Default Changing enclosure dimensions?

I am looking at building a system using a double bass reflex enclosure with full range drivers, my question is can i get away with changing the dimensions if I keep the volume the same? I need to keep them under 30" tall, and could make them deeper or wider (or both). My drivers are 7" out of an old vacumm tube console and will be used with a 5watt SET tube amp. I had them in a makeshift base reflex box and they sound ok, (but a little bright...need BSC?) hoping to get better bass out of a double reflex enclosure.

Seems like I got more than one question in there...thanks

jt
