I don't know the reason for the split with EAD but read the email newsletter last week

now that's gonna make it really interesting - "exactly which Jordans are those?"

dare I opine that as much experience as Lowther may have with paper and magnetics, there could be learning curve involved with working with thin metal cones?

I think the key word is "collaboration".

The other shoe drops on why EAD quit with the Jordan name.

from the EAD website:

Quote:
EAD No longer works under the EJJordan brand name. All products now have new names. More info will come soon.
Interesting to have Indian manufacture confirmed of EAD.

Ted needs to collaborate with someone as it has been said that he has never made a driver himself... Doreen (Bandor) made the originals, and a long list. Nice to see Mark Audio given some recognition.

To correct any misinformation: at one stage Ted and a small team used to hand make all his drivers, using cones supplied by his long-standing cone maker (who also supplied Tymphany, etc and continues to work with Ted). His real skill lies in the design and development of his drivers, making it more sensible for others to take them to production.

It doesn't make a great deal of difference either way. Ted is not exactly a young man, so he could hardly be expected to look after the production side of things.

Given that Lowther and Jordan were traditionally at the opposite ends of the FR driver spectum, it's an interesting collaboration. The Jordan range was starting to look rather long in the tooth, so with any luck, this collaboration will result in something a bit more interesting than the mildly warmed over units EAD started to bring out.

I agree. I do hope something 'better' comes from this collaboration. Certainly two respected names! Maybe something magical will happen!

Ted is a real class act. I've exchanged e-mails with him and he is patient, humble, and knowledgeable. That speaks volumes considering what he has done both at Goodmans and at his own company. I still have my pair of JX92s from years ago and it is still one of my favorites full range drivers. Best of luck to him.

Now according to the text, Lowther is to make the next generation of Jordan drivers. Hmm, Lowther does not make any metal coned drivers that I know of....

Given their respective strengths (metal cones and high flux drivers) I think the joint venture could be very interesting. They each bring something very different to the mix - which is the whole point of a collaboration.
