Default FR driver suggestions for PE .25cf cab?

Any creative FR driver suggestions for a PE .25cf cab? I currently have fostex F103en in the cabs but would like to get a couple more baffles and try another driver. I've already tried the TB 4" bamboo, TB 4" paper and the TB 5" but the f103en in this cab sounds best of all in these boxes. I'm curious if there is a CCS, Markaudio or other driver out there that you feel might work well with this cab, ported or sealed. Thanks.

With appropriate adjustments for vent tuning, Mark Audio CHR70/CHP70, CSS EL70 would be on my short list for this enclosure volume ( ~7 liters) . The new Fostex WK series would be worth considering as well - probably the FF105WK? ( 125WK would probably want a slightly to much larger volume .5 cu ft /14L or so?)

I've heard the FF85WK in the same sized box ( 2 L )in which the old FF85K ("stealth sigma") works very well, and while there are some obvious limits at this size, the new driver did not disappoint.

Default Nice list

Have you been trying these different drivers in the .25cf cab ported or sealed? Just curious.

later,
G

mostly in either approx 5.5L - sealed for CHR70, vented for EL70 / Fostex FE127 (would anticipate the FF125WK to work similarly well)

or varying between 11-13L (vented - tuning varies ) for above drivers as well as Alpair7 (currently my favorite by Mark, and could probably work in this enclosure, but it definitely deserves a more sophisticated design)

All the drivers Chris mentioned should work fine. Pick one & i'll suggest a port.

Thank you gentlemen! Well, I have the EL70s in the P10 mMarKen and its hard to imagine an improvement on that and I also have heard the CHRg1 in a small ported cab which are fantastic. I did, however, received the new CHPs a week or so ago and have never heard them, so I'll go with those in the .25cf PE boxes and appreciate Dave's offer for a port suggestion.
Regards,
Mario

To keep the amount of volume eaten by the port to a minimum, yet stay above the recommended minimum size, 1" D x 6cm long (alt 1.5" x 15cm long)

Sorry about photo resolution, but here are the PE .25cf cabs with MarkAudio CHP70.2's installed. I used a router to rebate the baffle and oscillating sander to champher the inside of the driver cutout. This second step seemed necessary due to the thickness of the baffle. The low end and overall detail is of the CHP70s are quite remarkable and they're very forgiving of harsh digital sources in these PE cabs! (although not to the same level of midrange magic I've found in P10 minifonken cabs). Overall, I'm very impressed CHP70s and am blown away by their value. Thanks Dave for the port recommendation (1" x 6cm).

Default Full Range Driver for 0.25 cf (7 liters) Cabinet

Several years ago my Jordan JX92S mini-monitor was well received by the DIY community with clones built by many builders. The JX92S works either sealed or vented in that volume. Later I added a Aurum Cantus G2si ribbon for a superior two-way design.

The JX92S is still available but the Mark Audio units may be better choices if cost is important. Several Mark Audio drivers can fill the need and have been mentioned in this thread. I'll add that the MA Alpair 10.2 or 7.3 drivers are excellent choices for consideration in volumes around that enclosure size. These two drivers offer the best detail sound quality within the MA line.

Finally, I grew the Jordan designs into small MLTL floor standers which I call mini-monitors with integral stands. I also have done the same with the Alpair 10.2 and I think you could do the same with the Alpair 7.3.

Good luck on your project.
