any body tried using a 12" full range for a tapered quarter wave, BIB, double back loaded etc. horn? Interested on how it sounded. I have tried them with 8" type drivers but what about a 12" full range?

HHmm a driver of that size cannot be fullrange at all ,above a certain frequency the driver behaviour is no more pistonic and reproduction of treble very attenuated . A 1 KHz crossover frequency could be the right frequency to cut its emission .
Even with a whizzer cone ,you can't go that high as with specialized speakers . The 'blanket' is short ,it is better to make the driver working in its natural bandpass range. |
