Dipole questions

Good day all, I have been playing with OB for a few months, I built a copy of Martin's one and I am quite satisfied of the result.

While searching the web on the matter, I found out an interesting project called "Sealed Dipole"

DIY Sealed Bipole Speaker Project with Fostex FE127E Driver

I am wondering about the result of putting 2 couples of identical loudspeaker back to back.

Will they act as bipoles or what?

One of the projects I am plannning is the VTL with Jordan fullrange, what if I built 4 of them and put them back to back?

Careful with your words--bipole and dipole. If you have two drivers mounted back to back and connect them in phase, you will have a bipole speaker. Connect them out of phase and you will have a dipole speaker. Bipoles have a broad radiation pattern and sound essentially omnidirectional in a room. Now dipoles have a figure eight radiation with cancelation in the plane of the speakers. Expect limited limited bass from a dipole speaker unless the drivers are mounted in large baffles so that the front and back radiations don't cancel.
