I have built a pair of TL's using the Dayton 8" full ranges. As you see the Ps-220 has an extended rise starting at 500hz which I cut using a BSC network as noted. The plots are near-far measurements in an 8x13x16' room.
The 1st [A] was built using Dr Bailey's 1965 approach of a straight line but in a triangle form to minimize the mid band frequencys. As you can see it did extend the bass range and cut the the highs a modest 1db @ 2-10khz. The 2nd [B] I went to the standard straight line; almost a copy of [A]. I used an experimental method of adding poly-fill until the Z plot peak-end of the slope was equal to the terminus near SPL peak output level. This is done according to one of our experts. It came to 20 oz's for a 54" line. My lines came to 1.5cf (8"x6"x54"). L area/Sd = 1.4 which in restrospect could be larger giving me a lower F3 hz extension. Turns out the speaker cabs are 9"w/13"d/37" high. TL's can be on the big size with the bigger drivers. I'm not a classical music listener but from all that is said, the sound quality is worth the TL effort. I hope you are able to zoom into the graph attachment to read the data. |

New attachment! zipping was the only way I could figure to reduce memory. How do some of you use the thumbprint, then zoom it to larger size.
Some of you may not have the unzip. |

thanks for sharing. I can open it. But - I do not understand it... ![]() what about the TSP in the lower left...totally differnt fron the original data... are these data input ? or did you measure them ?

Yes these are my measured driver parameters; I measured them with
Woofer Tester I. I have been using WTI for years. For example; I questioned the Mfg [Vas] in PE catalog and which was 4.6cf back in 12/2010, now they list it at 2.8cf / 79L. I see the Mfg Qt is lower too. It would be interesting to find out what some are getting using WTIII. |

I see where I wrote the Line ratio wrong... should be Sd/ Line area= 1.4.
Not seeing any comments, like how to extend the bass area, F3, other than increasing the line area. Augspurgers table indicates using the offset line, which would be an interesting move with an angled line. |
