I should mention that I'm pushing my speakers with an NAD solid state amp and it's likely there could be amps out there that are better damped and a better match for these drivers.

Using a low dcr inductor and a 10 or 15 watt resistor wired parallel does the trick. I ended up with a .60 mh / 4 ohm. Higher value inductors really raised the bass, like a loudness switch. It is subtle but effective. I've not found the need to attenuate FM broadcast and very rarely vinyl but often on CD's. It is also useful when you want to listen a bit louder than normal.

I will probably install this inside my cabinet with a switch so I can run unfiltered when I listen to the radio or vinyl. If you've noticed some harshness on certain recordings with your EL70's this is a very good fix.
