Just a note to put emphasis on what Scott says. The A12 is a nominal 6.5" driver that, in more pedestrian boxes, likes them small. For example, the large A12 miniOnken uses the same base volume as the medium size A10 miniOnken. The upside of having to fit its 8" driver sized bezel into a box originally targeted at a 4 1/2" driver, is that the solution pushed the boxes forward sonically (and even trickier to build)

GM,
I am getting more than row 25 - screen shot attached - the error that you are encountering - can it be due Excel version mismatch?
Can you please use this version of the *.xls please and see if this works? Saved in Office 2003 xls format.

Beats me, I have Office/Excel 2K v9.0.8944 SP3.
Sorry, no, it displays same as mine.
That said, I found it works properly using an ancient copy of Open Office 2.0, so saved it again as a *.xls, but still doesn't work in Excel, so don't know what else to do unless there's some Excel update that MS hasn't auto installed.

If there are other reasonable sized FR8 enclosures, I'd like to know about them.
Based on published specs, the smallest vented alignment I'll recommend is 61.4 L net tuned to Fs with at least a 3" dia. vent. Even then, it will probably be too small acoustically for best performance overall due to its real specs, so some additional damping may be required to deal with any 'boominess'.
That said, if driven with the SET, then the cab will be way too small and will probably have the kind of 'mushy' bass line that improperly implemented SET systems have become known for, though some folks prefer them.

Unfortunately, yours appears defective like mine [#NAME?]:
I opened the spreadsheet in Numbers, which removed the password protection (an unsupported feature -- good trick to know), then exported back to Excel.
Worked fine in Numbers, still broken in Excel (2004). The SS was using an mround() function which i guess is not supported in Excel. Changed all those to round and it works again (some error checking may be needed to insure consistency).
So attached is the SS unlocked & fixed to add to the collection of bits to make a SuperBIB calculator

WTF ?! When they load into Excel, they don't fit within its screen window, i.e. no vertical/horizontal scrolling bars or ability to control the SS's window size.
Sorry, i guess Excel isn;t smart enuff to resize for a smaller screen (1920x1200 here). Windows doesn't have a maximize window button that will shrink it to your screen. If it doesn't i can shrink the window and attach again.

'Numbers'?
So it was created in a program other than Excel?
Anyway, it seems to be working fine, though haven't vetted it yet.
Thanks!

19" CRT here: 1024x768.
No need here, the latest one displays properly.

Here is the PDF showing specs of H.A FR8C.
Just happened to notice that 3.5 Qms, 0.53 Qes = 0.46 Qts, not 0.45 as published.
FWIW, here's some measured specs:

'Numbers'?
The spreadsheet in Apple's iWorks suite. Pretty, user freindly, not as powerful as Excel (but a whole lot less $$$)

GM,
That's a perfect size & shape. Did you design that for the Hemptone FR8 ?
It doesn't even look like it has the 106.55 liters I calculate. The small footprint will work very well for me.
Do you think it could be made from hardwood boards or should I stick to multiple ply ?
Thank you for taking the time to give me a solution.

Ah! I keep forgetting you're Mac centric. 😉 If I could afford two computers, I'd get one for the things it does better/easier.

According to the drawing, it's for a Hemp Acoustics 8C, but after looking at all the info I have on the Hemp Acoustics/Hemptone debacle it makes for an acceptable basic cab alignment regardless of which one used, with the only variable being vent tuning, which should always be optimized to best blend to the room anyway rather than either just adding more stuffing and/or moving the speakers around the room until they sound ~tonally balanced; so I recommend experimenting with up to 4-5" long vents in 1" increments if the simple reflex vent doesn't work for your app and do each speaker individually since room acoustics often require each be tuned differently if not placed well away from any room boundaries.
For the keen of hearing WRT PRaT [pace, rhythm and timing], damping the vent for a critically damped response is required.
Well, a lot of Vb can be 'hidden' in height and it is around a foot taller than most folks will tolerate.........
If the wood is hard enough, i.e. dried out enough to have split if it was going to such as the weather 'cooked' Southern Pine I have from a many decades old barn. Otherwise, best to stick with a vacuum bag laminated furniture grade veneer over at least a furniture grade plywood, Its voids will require internal damping with acoustic ceiling tiles or similar with the extra volume of them ideally requiring the cab's width x depth being increased to offset it.
Then again, I've seen folks build with planks and plenty of braces and they have withstood the test of time, so if you're either in a gambling mood and/or plan on these being a long term audio solution.......... If you go this route though brace it such that it doesn't impede the cab's 1/4 WL action [vertical air column].
You're welcome! Let us know how they perform, good/bad/indifferent as there's no such thing as too many subjective opinions WRT in-room performance.

You don't need 2. Any of the Intel Macs can be both a Windows PC (natively or in any number of virtualizers) and a Mac. I've yet to dig out my XP CD, but will be installing it on my new (to me) 17" MacBook under Virtual Box (with will run many other X86 OSs).
dave
Having a server version is supposed to make it easier. I'm having a bitch so far installing 10.4.11 on my MacBook (running 10.6.7) in VirtualBox.
