What are your experiences with these drivers? should they be in OB or back loaded horn or boxed?

I don't know about that specific driver, but Philips fullrange units typically have a Qts in the 0.5-0.6 area. Open baffle could be nice with these. A "box" could work, but might end-up quite big.

First you might want to see what the Fs is. If the surrounds have stiffened up, your options for fullrange may be limited. Even if they are still loose, my experience is that these older drivers lack excursion, which isn't perfect for open baffle use on their own. If you can bi-amp (necessary as I bet they are extremely efficient so passive woofers couldn't keep up), an OB with helper woofers would be a sure-fire way to use them. Whatever you do, I'd shy away from the Philips recommended box (google image found one on the first page). I still have a pair of the boxes spec'd for the AD3800's, and the tuning was/is terrible. I wouldn't be surprised if open back or aperiodic cabinets are the best bet for boxes.

In the time that speakers were produced they were the best you could buy (The Golden) serie. I have had them en mounted them on polyester sewerpipes of about 1.30 meter. You could not believe the sound they have. It's onbelieveble good. Pity that with an accedent they were distroyed.
