Found a Project. Am I missing anything?

So, I want to build this because it's cheap and pretty flat, and I can put it on my wall. I don't like that it's aluminum, but hey, I can learn on it and I'm sure it will still be good.

First question, he doesn't state how many watts on the resistor. Will mine burn up?

Second question, would I be better off getting the electronics on ebay from the chinese?

Third question, am I missing anything?
