I purchased these speakers, 10" Eminence Deltalite II 2510 bass drivers thinking I would undertake one of Troels designs...but alas, I have been redirected due to money issues. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can build with these things. I have one pair. I'm open to ANY ideas.
thanks Spiro |

Before Zilch passed he built an econowave with the driver. Parts list and detailed measurements in the linky.

With an EBP of 117 this makes it a ported type. I got a Vb of 2.36358 cubic feet for an enclosure, an F3 of 46.41947 Hertz.........really nice from what I can see. Would make for a very efficient bookshelf size.........& with that rather high F range, easy to match up with horn to top it off. I'd dial it back to 3.5K for the cross-over.

A BR would be a logical choice (although personally, I don't hold with EBP as any more than a vast [and often misleading] approximation). However, 500Hz would be about as far as I'd be happy running that unit up to, even with a hefty shelving filter. Me, I'd run them vented, & cross to a suitable wideband unit below 500Hz (depends on how much powerhandling you want) either sealed or OB.

I was looking at the Alpair 6M ,which is a nice 3 and a half performer ,little enough to be paired with the Eminence Deltalite , but sensibility mismatch is a great problem !
A 10" waveguide or a Le Cleach Profile to increase driver output at higher frequencies may help ... |

Here's a more direct question. Would it be possible to use these Eminence speakers with an 8 inch full range, like the Audio Nirvana super 8's? What if the nirvana's were crossed at a higher point, and have the Eminence take control of the lower frequencies? Its not that I'm displeased with the performance of the 8's down there...but was wondering if having the 10 inch Eminence down there would add more punch? |
