Considering that the polymer used for the basket of the mark audio drivers is meant to be very stiff could light weight injection molded loud speaker cabinets be manufactured from it?

if so would it be possible for mark audio either through partnership or directly offer such cabs?

Hi Kipman,
Small cabinets are a possibility but cost is likely prohibitive. The moulds are expensive. The designs is complex due to the need for internal stiffening to control resonance. A set of moulds will cost in the region of 7000 to 11,000 USD depending on size and complexity. Only works if the cabinets can be sold in large volumes, 10,000 pcs runs upwards. Even then, the unit cost may not be competitive as the crude oil price is rising making polymer base material more expensive.

A shame as for the non diy inclined getting a speaker with your drivers in is quite expensive. I have to say after listening to the CHR-70 speakers I have built for a few weeks that I have trouble going back to multi driver systems.
