Default 2x FE126En or single FE206En?

I'm looking to improve the frequency dispersion (beaming) and bass response of my current setup, which consists of two BIBs with FE126 drivers.

My question is which setup would give me the best results: Two FE126 in each speaker, horizontally mounted, each pointing a few degrees to the left and right, JBL style, to improve dispersion and combat interference? OR, just a single FE206 per speaker with the problems of a wizzer but without impedance drop and interference to worry about?

Which is preferable considering I want less directivity and more bass?
The difference in cone area is only 3 cm^2 with the advantage going to the dual driver setup. So that difference is negligible.

Eh? The FE126En has a pistonic area of 65cm^2 (10.075in^2). x2, that's 130cm^2 (20.15in^2). The FE206En has a pistonic area of 206cm^2 (31.93in^2). That's rather more than the 3cm^2 stated.

Only one way to find out in practice, but as-is the requirements are slightly contradictory. You'll get more LF from 1 x 206 & a wider undistorted dynamic BW, but its power response narrows more with increasing frequency, so you'd likely need to run some form of active dispersion plug or baffle to get what you want on this score, possibly with a tweeter to fill in the top end which is likely to go AWOL in the process. If you've got the cash for 4x FE126E per channel, I suppose you could try something like Ed of the Hornshoppe does with his Model 3 http://www.thehornshoppe.com
