I was unaware of this driver before. It is the smaller brother of the 6cx200 apparently.
To me it looks like a very nice driver by looking at the data-sheet.

This does of course not tell you how it sounds like. The construction with the protruding horn would certainly help to reduce the usual IMD problems of coaxials. But it comes at the cost of a somewhat rugged response. It will of course need experience in crossover design to get a reasonably flat amplitude response.

The simulated low-end response looks fine as well for a driver of this size.

Regards

Charles

Default BEYMA 8CX300Nd ML-TL

Hi,

Agree with phase_accurate,further: For to retaining best overall SQ: I would XO the BEYMA 8CX300Nd driver to be acoustically overlapped by a Sub i.e. keeping the excursion dependent distortions to be as low as possible. IMD would also be of a lower value if using a higher tuning than your HR simulations are showing.

I have tried putting this drivers info into WinISD (because it’s what I got) and it seems imposs-ible to get decent bas-response in any of these boxes. The nice thing is that I rather put it into a transmission line or even better, a back loaded horn.

Are there anybody out there, who can help me?

I want it to reach 40Hz. (Without getting to big)

My guess would be around: Throat = 150cm2, Mouth=400cm2, Length=180cm, Coupling chamber around 5L. But that’s just a guess, since I haven’t got any software to calculate it. I have found a calculation on the smaller 6CX200Nd saying Throat=Mouth=270cm2, Length=132cm

It's a PA driver of probably interesting high efficiency performance (I have the less efficient and older 8BX variant and I am happy with it), designed for small enclosures, typically coupled with a big subwoofer. Hence it's not trivial to get good bass out of it.
The MLTL simulation is interesting - what are its dimensions? If you think about it, it is remarkable that you can get approx 50hz at 97 or so db (in the first graph) for 1 watt with an 8" speaker ! I do wonder about the excursion then.
Curious for listening reports.

I am using it in the nearfield in a small a closed active box (28cm x 28 cm x 28 cm measured on the outside). For this purpose it works well with quite some EQing. If you want to use it LOUD and farfield then I think you will need either a sub or a backloaded horn or similar.
The closed-box is the reason for using a driver with a protruding horn and some reasonable x-max woofer.
