Default Diffusor cone profile

Which out of these two -

Diffusorkegel - Lautsprecher Selbstbau by blue planet acoustic

Would be the best profile for a full range driver, facing upwards / omnidirectional.

Cheers, Rob

The straight cone, definitely. If you don`t look at the driver as a point source, but a piston, the hyperbole doesn't make much sense.

First off, if you are going to be using a diffuser cone with a fullranger, you better also employ a tweeter. Those things eat treble for breakfast.

The exponential profile goes on the assumption that most frequencies are generated at different places on the driver cone. The further from the center the lower. That is only partly true. The beaming of FR drivers is really due to HF being emitted all over the cone and the interference patterns of all those separate emitters being only mostly constructive in front of the driver.

I didn't know you could buy those.

Buy two, then you could go as Madonna on halloween.

Have you seen this monster?

This one seems to be more of a wide parabola.

I'd wager the Mirages reflector is more for aestetics and marketing than sound. I don't think it does anything positive at least.
It's too small and the shape is wrong.
