IMO, there is no point unless you use the specified drivers. Any others would be a crapshoot.

If you want a higher efficiency FR speaker for your future tubeamp, this is not a good choice.

And it is cheap, because it is cheap (MDF, inadequate bracing).

My opinion? $100 + shipping is a lot to pay for an MDF box i'd be putting in the fire pile.... if i want MDF to butn, i can just go to Chris' work, where they haul 3 bins a week of scrap.

Before you get too set on the Tritrix, i modeled it for a customer. Not very impressive. It will be very punchy, if you are into rock, but no real bass.

Simple 8?

Bob has plans for ML-TLs for TB W8 & Fostex FE166En.

There are ML-TLs for CHR & EL70 at the P10-hifi box plans.

MA Pensils are sort of TLs.

Mucho respect to both Dave and Bob but your goal and budget needs come to bare here as well.

Like everyone else I've owned a ton of speaks and am running TriTrix right now for HT. I got mine (mains, surrounds and center ) already built on a trade for low bucks.

My woodworking skills stink, I'm poor, and a Bass Hound and normally wouldn't even think a 5.5" driver worth listening too on a regular basis.

These little TL's shocked me and though I'm at P.E.'s forum as often as here I don't endorse one site and opinions over the other.

For what they are and the knockdown price I don't think they can be beat.

B.B. always the best bet as far as resonance concerns but not worth it to me for low buck drivers. Your not gona beat a CNC cut and wood crafters want bucks just to talk to unless it's a buddy.

I hate XO's just because I'm too ignorant to model and frankly despite building this n that in FR my ears notice the voids in both XO design and FR's. I loved the clarity of CSS fr125's but I couldn't put any power to them without distortion. Pio B20's were great for low buck Rock at bucoo volume but you lose all intricacy on jazz.

Within the next year I hope to be going back to FR in one way or another. I'm waiting for a 5" that is clear as a bell that plays from 18- 18,000 (blew my ears away long ago) that sells for $70. I'm certain it's coming. LOL.

I really have to say go with the TT if you want to listen now. Pick up a cheap SS amp with 35 watts or so, 10 in tubes likely won't get it with these speaks and build something in FR that can handle Jazz and Classical for your tubes.
