Seas FA22RCZ full range project

I have bought a pair of seas full range speakers. And now i hope
the good people in here will give me some input on what type of
cabinet is the best for this driver.
Should i go for a horn construction like Dallas or Jericho or a closed 60 L box
or 70L bass reflex box both the closed and the bass reflex boxes are found in the app notes from seas.

All sugestions are welcome in this prosess. I just hope i get a lot of ideas to try out.

Well, to get the ball rolling, here's a Vb = Vas, Fb = Fs MLTL.

Internal dimensions = 56in x 10.5in x 14in (HxWxD). Zd = 21.125in. Zvent 54in. Vent 4in diameter x 3.5in long. Line box top, back & one sidewall with acoustic fiberglass or similar & adjust damping quantity and / or vent length to tailor to your system / room / taste requirements.

The loudspeaker's will be driven by a jolida EL34 tube amp so i hope to
get a good match :) and DIY is always fun i think
 
Hi,

Whilst I agree with the recommended sealed box loading, I don't the vented.
Around 90L tuned to 28Hz will give ~ +6dB more bass at 30Hz and maximise
the efficiency below 100Hz, which is want you want for limited valve watts.

Unlike e.g. Lowthers or Fostex's, the excursion capabilities look quite
good, so a vented box may be all you need to use the driver very well.
Due to the low tuning above, IMO nothing more exotic will be needed.

Note the response shown includes the BSC effects of 60L closed box.

I severely recommend EQing at line level rather than an inductor and
resistor at speaker level, this will rob you of precious valve watts,
(to a degree, it also gives a very easy midrange and treble load).

Build something like this into the end of the power amplifier lead :

It will be far more effective, Any EQing will increase the dynamic range.

A box similar to this might be an idea :

Mount the driver higher obvously. The wide baffle will lower the
BSC point allowing more interaction with room effects / gain.

Ideally make mirror image pairs and spread the driver to edges spacing,
top:side:eek:therside ~ 0.6 : 1 : 1.6 to spread out diffraction ripple.

Thanx to the two previous posters i really appreciate your insight and every sugestion will be looked in to.
the driver are now in house and the fun can begin:)
I will start with a 60L closed box and listen to that for a while.
it's just to get an idea of what i can expect from the drivers.
and i will try eq at line level ,that seems as a really god idea:)
