Default Alpair 7: Simple temporary implementation?

Hi,

I'm going to build a pair of Frugel-Horn Mk3s with Alpair 7 drivers. For budgeting reasons, I'll be obtaining the drivers now. However, it is likely that I will be moving to another country in the beginning of next year, so I'm considering to use the drivers in a kind of throwaway enclosure or baffle at first, so I don't have to ship the largish horn cabinets around.

What sort of temporary enclosure could be recommended? I'm interested in trying an open baffle, if it makes sense for these drivers. What would some OB good dimensions be?

– Note that I don't have easy access to woofers, so these will be single-driver only.

I'm also considering mounting the drivers in a bottle or cylinder, creating a makeshift ported cabinet, if I can find something that fits. (The idea is from this thread: Tangband W3-871S in a bottle

Any ideas most appreciated! Thanks.

These are far too nice I could live with one of those forever!

To clarify the idea – I want to try to use cheap materials, and next to no woodwork.

Of course, you could also try them or a large-ish open baffle (cant get simpler than that )

Indeed, while somewhat limited to maximum SPL and bass extension vis a vis the FH3, the little sMarS is quite an eye-opener.
Sounds great with as little as 3-4w or so of tube power, and my son i really happy with his pair on Virtue one.2.

I've been thinking about alpair 6 or 10 on a 2' or more wide x 3' or more tall open baffle.
I know bass will make it distort, but w3-871s on open baffle was magic in its own ways.
