Default HELP: Detail on Lafayette Eliptoflex cabinet

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here. Great Forum BTW.

At any rate I need some help from anyone who has the dimensions for the vintage Eliptoflex cabinets for Lafayette speakers. I'd like to reproduce a pair for my Lafayette SK-58s. I know the outer dimensions from the old print ads. but does anyone know more.

Thanks in advance.

You can work it out from the patent (3,089,562) and from there tailor it and the box size to whatever driver.

Thanks GM!

I guess I'll do that unless someone else has some Eliptoflex cabinets they wish to measure for me. Its the ellipse and front baffle details I'd like to get correctly reproduced.

You're welcome! Just make sure you get all the dims including the tapered driver isolation ring.

I can get approximate dims through the grill-cloth of one of mine - IIRC Fb is around 60-62Hz if you ~replicate and are satisfied with that tuning. Eliptoflex doesn't truncate driver area like the RJ. I'm fond of RJ and Eliptoflex and have two pairs of 18" reflex built with that style vent.

Freddi:
Any help getting the measurements correct would help a lot! Thanks.

Even looking through the grill-cloth can you measure width and height of the elipse? Can you guess how far back the speaker baffle is from the elipse cut out (I'm guessing 3/4")?
