Hi people, any idea for plans to build Onken for Fostex FE166En? I've heard them sound and look great!
Thanks all, Z. |

You need FE167e (One Sixty Seven) for Onken style enclosure.

Hey Dave: remember I had pretty good results with a FE166e in my K-line (hybrid Karlson) so that is a possible option that is smaller than a horn. All the best Moray James..

Yes i remember that one -- i knew it was the subject as soon as i saw your name
... (someone said an HD crash ate your copy of the plans?). I also seem to recall you saying it did a bit better with FE167?dave

I've already built a horn for 166, Fostex' original, but after having heard Onken's one... well I'd like to try! As seen in few uncomplete picture on the net Onken seems similar to Solo-166 project. Isn't it? Anyway, has anybody Onkens plans?

Why? Driven with a high output impedance or adding some series resistance allows a F3 = Fs Onken without exceeding the vent length limit and you still have whatever 'sweetness' this driver may have over another.

Was looking for a few other options for my FE166ens besides the BIBs in which they are in. Googling brought me to this thread.
Did anybody end up building a Fonken with the FE166en? Any feedback suggestions will be appreciated. Thx, Zia |

I just simmed one. F3 ~110Hz, F10 ~86 Hz.
Might as well put it into a butterworth 5.3 litre sealed box and XO to a woofer (150 Hz XO (3rd order acoustic)). dave
