Perhaps our hearing gear being better tuned to L-R separation relative to up-Down? So, a CD horn is better serving its audience creating a horizontal field. Does it also minimize lobing issues by controlling the vertical to a tighter spread?

Donīt let your eye outvote what your brain knows, itīs exactly the other way round - physics.
Waves bent by a narrow slot - a rectangular horn mounted horizontally squanders a lot of energy by spreading it up and down instead of where itīs needed. PA people accept that as the lesser evil because it makes the boxes less high and thus easier to shlep around. Pit |

Though primarily to keep acoustic centers as close as practical.........

Haven't known all that many, maybe a hundred?, but as a group they seemed to enjoy their work/lifestyle far more than the majority of the probably several thousand office workers I've known.

Pit, so a vertically shaped horn is feasable? The reason is very important. To make it female friendly!
If I made a front horn with a mouth of say 180 cm height x 45 cm width would it work in principle not sure what hz that wd go to but anyways. |

Hmmm...could you go back to think about rearloaded? The Sachiko
http://homepage.mac.com/tlinespeaker...es/Sachico.gif might be what you need and still be the size you can get away with. |
