Hello HMJ,

FH3 - a lot more than the sum of its parts, but, designed properly in the first place. If you want soft, warm and pleasant use valves. If you want bright, sharp and analytical spend £20 on Class D (including the power supply) lol.

Cheers. I'm using old school Nytech amplification but about as much as a compromise between valve and class D as you can possibly get imo.

Thanks for the reply Scott, so realistically FHXL, Pensil and the TQWT you designed for it are my only options by the sound of it, unless I settle with a BR stand mounter. as you had a hand in the design of all, which one would you be putting your money on to build in terms of low extension

Sorry, missed this. FWIW, there are a couple of others that I've done: the DCR floorstander I did (not included on the pdf, but it's on the CHN110 thread. Shameless plunder of Dave's driver drawing ). And recently as part of my antelope series, Kewel (a relatively compact MLTL). Sketches of both attached below. Both lightly damped alignments, Fb 37Hz & 34Hz respectively (former has a second tuning higher up like all DCRs). If any questions, probably best asked over on the main 110 thread to avoid taking this one OT.

My FH3 slowly comming to end. I have piece of kimber 8tc (16 wires on braid that I planed to unravel) and was thinking to use that wires for internal wiring. How many would be enough, one per pole? Maybe two? Driver will be Pluvia 7HD

You have access to CAT-5 wire? If yes you can try with single strand of skinny wire without having to unwind the braid.

Its just 0.5 m, cant use it for much but as hookup wire anyway

Try it out - 0.5m might be just enough to use as hook-up wire for your FH3.

Once you cut the jacket you will find there are twisted pairs of wire inside.

You asked the question i was — are those strands stranded or solid? And how big.

I tend to like solid. A pair of CAT5/6 single strands is 24g. The stuff that goes into walls is solid.

that was my idea. Single wires are very thin so question was 2 per speaker or maybe 4. When used as speaker cable this Kimber is really good for the price

I also have some spare Apature Accusound 4+4. Its silver plated solid copper in teflon 0,8mm. Maybe that?

Try them both. Use the best one.

I think you will find that a pair of the Kimber strands will do fine. There is a decided tendency to use too fat a wire.

yes, I noticed that. 2.5 mm hookup wire if you want bass

Note that sometimes skinnier wire yields more bass.

2.5mm is 10g. Way thicker than i use even with my subwoofers.

I like this myself.

2.5mm diameter or 2.5mm^2? Former is 10ga, latter is 13.1ga [nearly].

I use Supra Classic 4.0 at home, which is roughly 11.1ga tin plated copper.
