Re-post from audiocircle.com:
If you have built or plan to build speakers with a single, crossoverless 10-inch driver, can you please post a link to your chosen design or give a brief description? There seem to be many tried and tested options for 8-inch drivers (back loaded horns, transmission line, bass reflex, etc.) but I could not find almost any for 10-inch drivers. This may be of interest to anyone considering to build a pair of 10" fullrange speakers. Thank you. So far I was directed to this thread but other options are appreciated: S.P.Q.R. EZ10 for the AN Cast 10 Peter (Slovakia) |

Hello,
i made a BLH for 10" the HELIKON, but i think 10" is for FR to large and the box gets heavy weight and large, take a look: Helikon

Yeah, 10" seems too big to get properly extended treble out of it. A super tweeter could well be in order.

Hi HM,
those are BIG speakers, even regardless of WAF Thanks for sharing. Do you happen to have any report on how these sounded? Did they have satisfying treble? How about soundstage and "disappearing"? Peter |

Hi HM,
really, those are not small speakers, even regardless of WAF Thanks for sharing. Do you happen to have any report on how they sounded? Did they have satisfying treble? How about soundstage and "disappearing act"? Did you find them lacking something? Peter |

Hello hebrer,
the construction is from 1984, realized for a friend as an single lying sub woofer for his cinema during 1990, he like it and hear it also today. i think 8" is the "largest" size for FR, look my double horns SAXOPHON and RDH20 smaller and better bass, soundstage and imp as a Helikon.

Thank you, Doug, for these suggestions. I might do just that. As of now, I am almost decided to build EZ10 (The S.P.Q.R. EZ10 S.P.Q.R. Acoustics )
designed by Thomas Petzwinkler (with no listening impressions yet of an actually built pair) but it never hurts to get another perspective and more choice. |

Let me know if you ever build them! I have been trying to get anyone who has built my designs to let me know what they think so that I can improve upon them.
