Hi,
I am planning to upgrade my BG20 horns, but cant decide which ones to use- Visaton BG200 or Fostex FE206. Horns are in use with SE KT66 Tube amplifier. Could anyone give me some idea how do they sound, compared to each other and to BG20? What I am looking is a clear sound and bit more volume (sensitivity!). Regards Urmo |

Hi Urmo!
Since I have both speakers, my answer is, well, none ![]() ![]() ![]() Visaton B200 (you meant that one, right?) is not meant for a horn. Fe206 is a good driver, but I'd prefer something smoother. So...Please consider some other options as well. Maybe someone else can suggest you something else. Personally, I'd prefer Markaudio Alpair 12: Alpair 12 Driver | Markaudio Although it may not be suitable for a horn. Anyway, don't hurry, wait for some more opinions. |

The Alpair 12 is perfectly suitable for a horn... Woden Design | Avebury

It should be the best choice then. Although I haven't heard it, it should be much better option than either Visaton or Fostex.

Alpair seems to be fine driver, but 89.3 dB is bit low for low-power tubeamp, looking for something closer to 95-96 dB...

That disqualifies the Visaton B200 (in reality more like 90-92 dB). The small sample of the new FE206En measures 96 dB.

Hello Urmo,
Have'nt heard B200, but FE206 BLH plays nicely with my tube gear, after being tamed with notch filter |
