Hi all, I've seen somewhere, but I don't remember where, that someone is using filters on fullrange speakers to "increase" basses. Even if it seems to me a nonsense, anyway I would like to try with and without them.
I'm actually using Fostex FE166En and FE126En dreivers, mounted on back loaded horn enclosures, Fostex' original plans. Can anyone help me with electronic plans? Thanks all in advance Z. |

Chances are you're thinking of baffle-step circuits, which consist of an inductor paralleled with a resistor (and sometimes a capacitor) in the positive feed to the driver.
Such shelving filters don't 'increase' the bass range; they reduce everything above the baffle-step point to rebalance the frequency response ~flat (or to whatever is desired). A decent back-horn shouldn't require such a circuit as it will be using cabinet gain to compensate for step-loss instead. Last edited by Scottmoose; 31st May 2010 at 01:59 PM. |
