Default ibR108 vs frugel126 measurement

I build a couple of months ago a set of semi-frugels for my wife's practice.(pic.1 and pic.2)
I decided on some measurements.

Used system : asus eee pc XP and ATB701pc.
condition : Iplaced both the speakers in a corner ; mouth 50 cm and 50cm from the wall and the door in the corner.

I took measurement with "open "door and "closed" door (= corner loaded.)
for both speakers.

all conditions are the same for ATB, placement (tape on the floor) and amplification.

You can clearly see :
1 1kHz "hole "for the fe108ez.
2 The 7kHz peak for the fe126e.

overall efficientie is higher for the 126 but the bass is almost the same so the IBR108 gives relatively more bass.

Open for discussion ??

Hi Leonidas,

Which one do you think sounds the best to you ? The 108 EZ seems like it would sound more relaxed.

Do you hear the bass bump as intrusive on the music?

My wife heard them, side by side, and she wants a pair of ibR108's.
She has a reflexology practice and needs detailed and at the same time relaxes music.( new age stuf )

The 108 , in the right constuction, is worth the money.

I'm working on a fronthorn to deal with the 108 "hole" , that's why I took measurements.

Dave (planet10) does things with the stock 126 to improve them.
Hard to get in the Netherlands, so difficult to compare for me.

Hi Godzilla,

No you don't hear it at all, I forgot to close the door of a second room wich resonates at 50Hz. (I never listen music in there; think about tube sound hum!!)

Thanx for posting those, Leonidas. Stock FE126e is definitely more fatiguing that FE108eS.

I have quite a few pair of my FE126eN in Europe. Air post to the Netherlands is particularily quick.

I have yet to revist the ibR108 plans since i got your comments back. I'll keep you in the loop.

dave

PS: with ATB you can generate proper waterfall plots (time axis in periods). I'd be really interested in seeing some of those. Is it also possible to display an ATB waterfall looking into the time axis? (ie a 2D chart)

P-10,

Work is very busy at the moment.
But I will certainly do more measurements later on.
I already was glad that I could show this ones!!
I'm still studying the ATB set.
I was working with a DAAS 32+ system before this one (on an ISA slot) so everything is new to me.
As soon as I have a little more time I will share everything with you.
Speakers in your interest wil be :
FE207E , FE166E , FE126E and FE108ez and the Lowther dx3.
I also saw in the books that the ATB701pc has an export function!!
Have'nt found anything yet about rotating the axes of diagrams, but who knows?

warm greetings
