Default Vifa NE85W 2.5"

Anyone actually got their hands on one yet? looks an interesting option against the FR88EX / Bandor 50mm / Omnes BB3.AL / Mark Audio Alpair 5/6.....

Vifa NE85W, 2.5" Fullrange Driver, 4 ohm from Madisound

I also like the look of this one for the bandwidth (if they are being truthful); no idea what they sound like.. 3" aluminium and $30 each. Bit of a sudden rise at 15 khz

nice basket casting - but spoiled by the rather chunky terminal block, which aside from the aesthetics, could make for tight wiring and baffle machining on line arrays with which no doubt some folks will want to experiment

I saw someone posted recently a pic of the basket, but did not give any subjective views on their performance.

There also seems to be two versions, the REv1.1 which has the normal surround and a nicer Response Graph and an FS - 167Hz, and the REv2.0 which has am inverted surround (Pic on Madisound site), more ragged top end (Bigger Breakup Peaks) and an FS - 105Hz.

Quite a big difference

For now i am going to pass on these new Vifa's... I wish their 6" driver had a more extended response.

well then, there's always the Alpair 7 and 12 bracketing this nominal dimension -

I finally got a pair of the former installed in some boxes late yesterday evening, and only got a chance to listen to them on some TV. Maybe some music tonight?

That looks virtually identical to a driver of which a buddy of mine acquired a batch of B-stock/warranty returns from some clearance house - they are a very nicely made little driver indeed.

I fabricated a pair of line array towers with 25 per side ( it's handy to have access to a talented CNC operator rather ) - maybe someday I'll have to listen to them.
