Default Horizontal MLTL OK?

I am using a pair of MLTL cabs on either side of a large screen in my home theater. I like the result, but now want to go all the way to a 5.1 setup. I plan to use the same FR drivers (MarkAudio Alpair 10) in the center channel.

I understand that the driver and the port are placed strategically in MLTL designs. What would be the result if I used a pair of the same MLTL design I used for the sides as two center channels in parallel, but positioned horizontally as a mirror image of one another? Basically, one cabinet will be rotated 90 degrees to the right from vertical and the other will be rotated 90 degrees to the left. I want to do this mostly to "widen" the sweet spot of the center channel.

The soundwave in a MLTL does not know and care it's vertical or horizontal, so the only question is on "one or two sources for the center channel".

Two left-right mirror image center channels do not widen the sweet spot, they do the opposite. There'll be lots of lobes.

If higher headroom (by 2 drivers) is desirable, tight vertical array would be better (in horizontal dispersion, thus wider sweet spot). In a horizontal and long cabinet, you may try to make one or two folds inside to maintain the positions of drivers and ports. I'd imagine such box might probably look bulky, though....
