Mar-Kel70 in Sweden

Dad just came home with some 22mm particle board. Was thinking maybe i could make a baffle for the EL70eN and try them open-baffle. Would that work? What size should the baffle be?

You can try it, it will really need a big, suitable, helper woofer for any bass. And be careful with the levels.

I'd encourage you to build a proper plywood set of the yet to be released Mar-Kel70T.

Feel free to baffle mount the EL70eN to get a feel for what they do in the midrange. Unless the baffle is a monster you'll get little bass.

Just watch the distortion.

Well. The 22mm particle board i have is approximately 100x120cm (got two boards).
Would it be possible to just try the EL70eN in those? If so i was thinking of mounting them pretty close to the upper edge of the board, to not waste it all.

Don´t forget to check the box "open baffle".

Go ahead, it will fll in the lower midrange somewhat, you won't get bass. And will noload on the backof the driver, be careful with the volume control.

Ignoring the wood saving aspect, mounting the driver at a location based on the golden ratio is a good 1st guess.

I played around a bit in Edge but it seems like it's not worth it, couldn't get a somewhat flat curve.
Will save the boards for any future projects...

Difficult. You´d need a maths or graphics program to do that. Or write one yourself - an Excel sheet perhaps? (don´t look at me. No way. )

Do it by hand then. Print the driver´s response curve. In Edge, click on "File" and "Export Response". Somewhere in your PC (under "Documents) you´ll see at which frequencies and how many dB above the old curve the new one is to be drawn.

There will actually be 3 versions of the T for the EL70. The tall & narrow version will look like this but 1,44 times as tall.

for an interesting change of pace, and surprising test of imaging (quantity, location and "bandwidth" of back up vocals) - even with the EL70s, you could definitely benefit from a woofer such as the EL166

a lot of spiritual flavor to the gutsy, greasy blues, as well as a couple of surprisingly delicate ballads

I didn't find any album named "Come to the river" but i found one named "The River" from 1997...
