Default BK-16 Folder Horn - Change Dimensions

Considering building the BK-16 folded horn. This is my first diy horn. Looking at making the cabinets a little slimmer and taller, by an inch or two. Will compensate for reductions in the cabinet widths with height increases. The Vb won’t change and area openings of the throats & mouths will remain the same; however, the mouth opening dimensions will change a bit. Is this OK?

To be honest, look for another design. From memory, the horn path is a bit too short.

Not really. The cross-sections and length of the horn need to remain the same.

What driver are you intending to use?

ZillaSpeak - Speakers

I built these years ago and thought they had a hollow sound. But they did have a dynamic sound too which got me interested in back horns.

Thanks for the responses. Dave, looking at using the Madisound recommended Fostex FF165K.

That driver should work in almost all the FE166 enclosures. Hiro or A166 top of the list.

Dave, thanks again. You sparked my interest with the Austin A166s. Some folks apparently use the FE168ES with it. A good choice? Also, are you aware of any more recent plans available for it?

Some guys (Chad in particular (aka HiFiZen)) have been working on getting the plans redone
