Has anybody made bookshelf speakers with AN Super 3? If I made such a speaker in 5.1 HT system do I need alot of space around them or can I put them on the fireplace mantle with just a couple of inches behind them from the wall.
Thank you |

Cute driver. Big Xmax.
http://www.commonsenseaudio.com/an3cfspecs.jpg I wonder how these compare to something like a Fostex FE83E? |

I was going to put FF85K in my first post, but the Vas and Q values seem to be a closer match for the FE83E.

I am trusting you guys here for a review. I have never heard any Fostex before in HD setup but only in a stereo setup and with Jazz and Classical music from a friend. I have installed some DynAudios and Morel seperates in my car but new to fullrange and DIY speakers.

I'm interested in that lumpy cone. Looks like a stiffening effort or some kind of resonance mode correction.

I guess nobody has taken a plunge yet. I know the larger drivers from AN that I have read from this forum and others are close to the sound of Fostex and have favorable reviews. I am just concerned they have different sound from there larger drivers because of diff geometry as InclinedPlane said there is that big bump in the middle of the driver.
