I have 4 Peerless 2" full range drivers and will wire 2 in series on each side(r/l) and wondering if I use a sealed enclosure will I need to double my driver parameters when calculating the volume of the enclosure? will it matter for such small drivers? They will be part of a 2.1 system.

Hi there: Vance Dickerson covers this topic in "Louadspeaker Design Cookbook" 7th ed, on page 46: Fs driver resonance will remain the same, Qts will remain the same, Vas and Vb (box volume) will be twice that of a single driver, Impedance (for identical drivers) will be double for 2 drivers in series and 1/2 the value for paralel connection, cone excursion for series connected drivers will be half that of a single driver.
...regards Michael |
