15lb of fury with $12.60 Sammi 8" diameter 2" vc speaker.
It would play maybe 8-10dB louder than this video as the preamp didn't have sufficient gain that day. ![]() Sammi 8 & Wild Burro's BetsyK ![]() Up close the camera's mic overloaded but there were gargling noises present in the front chamber that can be heard up close but disappear as one goes back. If I understand correctly, asymmetric projectors go back to ~1961 when Karlson tried the little KR5 Rocket in a new position and the AP series included 6x9", 10" and 15" driver klams. There was also a plan for a 12 foot device with 2-15". Jess Oliver took over the klam production in 1968. I believe a passive K-tube supported over the dust-cap to pipe out some highs would help. (That would look ultra-krazy) Karlson's AP100 and Oilver's Maga-clam apparently used a K-tube waveguide with compression driver to augment Altec 421. This klam is roughly a copy of Alan Weiss's Rocket. (Weiss worked with Karlson and holds I believe the only current K-patent) The rear chamber could be a bit smaller to keep qtc and power handling optimum but parameters are constantly changing with voice coil heating and position. Video - it would play louder than this and further YouTube - karlson projector speaker ![]() here's Lars Moseholm's spl chart to 25M of the Weiss Rocket. The little box at the lower right-hand corner represents the elevated speaker. ![]() a standard Karlson 8 might be more fun and the 12" with 8" driver I like better than my Klipschorn Last edited by freddi; 20th February 2010 at 01:34 AM. |

These 4th order BPs are just way too cool looking and I've been 'chomping at the bit' for years now to experiment with 6th order variants, especially since the advent of how well THs can perform, but this POS body of mine has other ideas.

Did you ever try sleeping on an incline like I mentioned? It has helped me and some friends quite a bit with sleep apnea and one with reflux issues, though he's still wedded to Nexium.

Only 5? Count yourself lucky. I was in my 30s when my hands quit tanning and started peeling year round, so used a prescription lotion, but after I lost insurance it was so ridiculously expensive I have to make do with heating up Vaseline enough to work as a penetrating salve when it gets too uncomfortable as every lotion I've tried including Vaseline's doesn't work well enough for any length of time.
Dunno about sleeping positions other than what works for me, but there may be some useful info here or other Google search links: What's the Best Way to Sleep? GM
