id like to model the gain provided by a BVR 'horn' with a throat area of about 3 to 5 in³ and a open end area of about 250in³. 'horn' length will only be about 12" through the centre line and the smallest dimension of the horn aperture will be 8".
does anyone know how to do this? or will any BVR specialist calculate or guess-stimate for me based on knowledge/experience....I have just had an idea thats all.... |

Speaking strictly as a newb, I don't think you want to model just the vent by itself but there are ways to model the driver/enclosure/placement:
(a) model it in MJK's worksheets (small cost, huge power, you will learn a lot!) (b) model it in HornResp as a BLH where the horn is conical (free) (see dhenryp's tutorial here: BLH example with Hornresp in pictures ) (c) model it in AJ Horn (bigger cost, models fewer variables but as a result, it is the easiest to learn and a fun starting point for people like me, with no physics aptitude |
