Default Enclosures for Tangband and Lyeco Drivers

Hi, I am of new here (this is my forst post, but I have been reading for some time) My name is Alejandro and I live in Santiago, CHILE.

I have some drivers have have never used or never find a suitable enclosure and I would like to start a project with some of them.

1.- Tangband W4-1052SA i have tried BR enclosure with 1 and 2 drivers (like the Omega Minuet) but did not like it. I there other enclosure type for that driver ?
2. I have bought the Lyecos 302,401 and 501 just to try them but I havent found a good disign. what do you recommend ?

3.- I have a pair of old Technics 14F12. The recommendde enclosure is a 13L BR. does someone has experience with that driver ?

Alejandro

See my email in response to the one where you asked the same thing. Didn't prove to be a particularly good driver; the FE108ESigma gave much better performance. Fortunately, or the boxes Chris built would have been redundant. Not sure what happened to them; probably sold on by now.

I donīt know if this was discussed before, but why the John BLue speakers using Lyeco 302 and 401 have beed reviewed so favorably and there are no other implementation of those drivers ?

You'd have to ask the reviewer, but one would imagine because they either haven't done any direct comparisons, or heard anything better.

rather an understatement, but let's qualify that by "in this box, to our ears, etc.,"

If you mean the drivers, they are probably gone by now, but at last count the boxes were still somewhere in the Dlugos dungeon.

There's always the chance that drivers actually used in the John Blue speakers are either special OEM production versions, or hand picked for QC. It takes surprisingly little juggling of engineering specs/ stock parts or certainly of quality control of things like alignment, integrity of adhesive bead lines, etc, to make a huge difference in the sound.

I had an occasion to hear a pair of the little JB3 a couple of years ago, driven by both a Kingrex T20 and Glow tube amp - frankly nothing special.

So long as they're not being put on the rack.
