Hi to all
I would like to ask if it is possible to change FE167E with FE207E in a BIB enclosure with dimensions 31cmx42cmx168cm without critical sound changes. |

No time to do any Vp checks, but you'll probably loose a bit of LF gain due to the pipe being acoustically smaller than ideal; might balance out a bit though due to the higher inherent efficiency of the 207. Depends on what exactly it is you're trying to do.

My BIB's are 30x48x167 cm , originaly for Lowther DX3.
One day I tried some Fostex FE207e's and they , at least in the lows , sounded beter then the Lowther. Maybe also a little room dependent. Just give it a try, you want be disappointed. warmest gretting Leon.

Thanks Scottmoose and Leonidas for the advice.
The experiment i want to check is to lower the LF.I attach a picture also to have an idea about room space and position of speakers. The problem is that i have to cut a bigger hole on front baffle to fit FE208E, so if the result is disappointing will be the of enclosure. |

huge pipe - 207 should have half the cone displacement for same output

Finally i followed leonidas advice and i replace the fe167e with fe207e.From the first note the bass is much better than before. It is more deep and tight . Listening to a cd with several kinds of drums, with a reasonable volume, i felt the bass in my chest. The only thing now is to wait for "break in", for mid and high's.

'Sounds' like all you really needed to do was add some series resistance to the 167, but 'BIB' rules for driver size too where improving the quality/quantity of its (mid) bass output is concerned.

CGIAN ,
Glad you like the bass output. Mid and high's improve over time. I'm 58 years old and don't need it, but if you are younger , maybe you need a tweeter. The fostex FH17 will do the trick. Experiment with a C around 0,5 ~ 2,2 uF in series with the FH17. A friend of mine did so and even I hear some more "air" in the sound. Good luck and enjoy the music!!
