Feastrex NF5ex

Hi there,

This is my first post!
Awesome site here which has inspired my to go DIY!
I'm a novice when it comes to DIY audio but decided to get a Feastrex NF5ex to try in open baffle in no small part due to some of the posts by on this great site esp Nelson Pass with the D9 drivers. Am trying to keep things as simple as possible . How low can the bass for the NF5ex go in open baffle as a single driver? Is it physically possible to get qood quality bass to 100hz? If not how low can it go?

You won't get 100 Hz without a significantly large baffle. You can use MJK's worksheets to do sims but you would need T/S parameters (i was unable to get any decent T/S from the set that passed thru here)

My gut feeling is that a couple hundred Hz makes most sense.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, it was quite a jump for me to go to Feastrex and I have to admit I was quite caught up in all the 'hysteria' surrounding the driver just based on internet reading. The logical way to audiophile heaven this is not but I have to say the driver does live up to the hype.
Someone posted this on the net I think from this site regarding parameters.

Currently in my OB (900x600mm with 900mmx400mm hinged side) made with 19mm pine has little bass.
I would like to keep the drivers in OB and try and get as much bass as possible but I guess this involves other compromises to the sound. I have heard the BR box as suggested by Feastrex is quite good. Anyone with Feastrex drivers have any opinions of OB vs BR? Does the BR box loose some of that openess? Anyone using Feastrex driver in OB without woofer?

Currently have an Audionote Meishu Silver 300B amp with Audio Aero CD + Benchmark dac. Looking to upgrade digital source. Using Audionote silver cabling.
