Just bought a 5.1 to 7.1 receiver and I am thinking of using car full-range speakers for the surrounds, high front and maybe central speakers.
Has anyone built such a thing?
Next thing is to do the surrounds at least perhaps as dipoles, using same speakers.
Comments or ideas?

I certainly use FRs for my HT (2.1 thou).
But they are car speakers?
Dipole surrounds are not very good. A splayed bipole can be excellent thou.
Where did you read that? AFAIK THX recommends them for HT.
What's a splayed bipole?
But they are car speakers?
No. There are some decent car speakers. The old 6x9 GM/Delco comes to mind. New car speakers are usually over-priced for the sonics.

THX recommended them for old obselete ProLogic. For modern steered decoders they suck.
Floyd Toole's book is a must read for these kinds of things.
To do a splayed bipole, take your dipole and wire the drivers in phase.
