I was looking to build my first line array but the expense was always an issue not to mention lack of knowledge. I saw this speaker at PE
Parts-Express.com:*JVC 1" x 4" Full Range Neo Driver with Housing | JVC 1" x 4" Full Range Neo Driver pc speaker tv speaker computer speaker extended range monitor line array LC33770 npa00519 JVCbuyouts090109 and saw the driver spacing would be 1.1875" center to center. This led me to believe I could use it and get away with making one array to handle the mids and highs and combing wouldn't start till about 11 KHz. Is that frequency correct? I was thinking to use 24 per side and wiring for 5.33 ohms. Also, I was wondering about how to add the sensitivities. I guessed you would add 3db for every doubling of drivers. At 80db per speaker, I figured around 93.5 for the set of 24. The box will only be 30 some inches tall so am I right to assume ceiling and floor reflections won't add to the array length very much? |

I'd try them if I didn't have an array already and full basement of speaker junk
they are high Q drivers, so you can use them on open baffle. if you put them in enclosure, they may have too much low end gain. sensitivity gain will not be uniform throughout whole frequency range. just mont drivers at desired location, then measure FR. it's the easiest way IMO. |
