Default BVR theory

Hi!

This question is basicaly for Scott and Dave:
What is the theory of the BVR calculation and planing?
I mean, how you choose the :
- chamber volume
- horn throat size
- horn mouth size
- horn lenght

Greets:

Depends on the driver, design goals & a host of other factors TBH, so no simple answer, let alone a single answer I'm afraid. Did you have a specific driver in mind? I'm away for a few days but if so, I'll try to help out when I get back & have chance.

Not, yet. You should use for demonstration a driver from one of your design.

Hi Scott, wow this would be amazing to peek inside your methodology.

Having heard your Harveys (built by Mssr. Phil Townsend), I am still haunted by how great and inexplicably huge they sound. One felt "bathed" in sound. That system (in that room etc.) is to date my standard of audio perfection.

For some reason, horns and horn-like speakers just cry out to be understood. I'm on my third year of trying but it's a tough slog.

How about a "half Iris" with the FE167E? A sort of mini-Replikon?

Half-Chili would fill that role. Do keep in mind that the Changs have superceded Harvey/Iris/Bruce.

Hi Dave, I was thinking very literally of a box with an expo vent, since Tyimo was one of the original enthusiasts for the Replikon, and he was very keen to understand it. (And there is still something magical about Harvey - maybe the big mouth area and path length?)

Yes, it is true. On the end of that discourse I understanded the Replikon sucessfuly. I built some Replikon style loudspeaker with great result. That Hornlautsprecher theory is realy works.
Now I would like to understand the BVR's theory what is similar to the Replikons.(some way...)

The Replikon is a specific example of a BVR.

Yes, but the way how Ralf and Till from Hornlautsprecher calculating and designing is a bit different from yours. I think....
