Hi
I am making a GhettoBlastor for my college project and I have most of the parts so I just getting ready to build he enclosure and connect it all together...
I have a SLA battery which is 12V 3.3Ah.
A '41hz' amp-6 basic which I have built.
A MP3 controller board which I bought off ebay.
5V power supply to power MP3 and HD which I made the circuit board and built.

I need to buy some speakers so I have been thinking about a pair of 4" drivers. I am prob going to buy these but the bloke hasn't got back to me about buying 2 and its been over 5 days....

Then I will need to build it so I plugged the data into WINISD and its told me i need a volume of 1.7litres and the dimensions.

I will buy some 12mm MDF to use to build it and it will have the box to house the speakers either side of the box in the middle holding the battery and the amp etc...

Any one got any advice or tips on this?
I need to build it this weekend really...
Also where can I buy leads, connectors (eg 3.5mm power connectors), volume control nobs and switches from?

Thanks a lot
Dan

For small stuff like Volume knobs, switches and connector, ebay can be your friend. Check out some of these sellers.

This guy has alps and resistor based volume pots.

These guys have all the cool switches and knobs. You can spend hours looking over their stuff.

This guy has some really interesting stuff. It looks to be mostly old Soviet Bloc Military surplus stuff. He comes up with some cool stuff from time to time.

This guy has your signal wire needs covered. He sends it out fast and everything I've used from him is aces. Top quality stuff.

And lastly we have Sure Electronics. They have a vast array of LEDs, t-amps, voltage regulators and other electrical bits and bobs. Some useful stuff and some stuff that's just fun to play with.

Let us know how your project turns out. Post some pics if you can.

Good luck.

Okay so this week end I made a box!!! I really like the size and dimensions.... The sides are sealed for speakers and the middle is for the battery, amp etc. Heres some pics

So I filled the inside with wood filler to seal it. I presume that will seal it okay. Im not sure how to seal the front section though when I glue the front on... I have thought now that I have done it the wrong way round and should of glued the front and left the back off till last (I didnt do it this way because I still havent got the speakers so I mite need to modify the fronts yet)

So how do think I should seal the front gaps when I can only fit through the speaker holes?

I have also forgotten to put some speaker cable holes at the sides going to the middle lol so whats going to be the best way to do that that now?

Cheers

Okay I have not heard back from the bloke on ebay about the speakers from the Modus cubes.
Does any one on here have a spare which they bought from this seller or just have a set lying around? It seems there were very popular for DIY builds and lots of people bought a set from him to do so.
Cheers
