I was lucky enough to pick up a pair of Stephens Trusonic 120FR 12" full range speakers in mint condition in what I assume are the original cabinets at a local thrift store(only a few months after scoring a pair of Altec Valencias for $60!).
Anyway, I love the sound of them and the cabinets are in excellent condition. Which leaves me with a bit of a problem; do I leave them as is since they are in such great condition or should I build better enclosures for them(which?).
The drivers are fairly low on the cabinet and I can't help but think they would sound much better with the voice coil at ear level.
I am planning on building a SE 6bQ5 amp to mate with them as I found info stating they are 95db efficient. Seems like a good, economical choice.
Advice?
