Has anyone had a chance to use these yet? Why was it designed for sealed cabinets? Only $830 from Madisound.

Only $830 EACH from Madisound. I am sure they are well engineered and high performance drivers, but a little to steep price-wise for me at the moment. |

Wince.
It's actually a good question. Why was it designed for sealed boxes (although it should be usable enough on a baffle with LF support. Problem is, so are most other drivers). Like Martin & Dave, I'm sure it's an excellent unit for what it is -I'd expect no less from Seas. But looking at both specs and price, I keep coming back to the question: who is going to buy it? I think Seas have messed up with this one -fine product, but is it the right product? |

Some may even say it's a dumb product. Apparently those who've heard it say it sounds very good. I'm sure it does. But it's too expensive.

could the F8 exotic ( http://www.madisound.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=8320 ), or an supper8 alnico ( www.commonsenseaudio.com/an8alnicospecs.jpg ), or tb w8-1808 ( www.tb-speaker.com/detail/1230_04/w8-1808.htm ), be used open baffle driven by the same amp with nothing more than a simple x-over to a 100db 8Ω eminence delta-15a Qts .57 or 100db 16Ω delta-15b Qts .67 ob?
