Interesting the difference between it and others published near-field? responses over the years.

I don't consider 1M near field, since most of the interesting things
in the curve are above 300 Hz, but since you ask, the Pioneer has
one of the smoothest/flattest response curves to be found, and it
pretty much sounds like it.

It does lack drama and sizzle, but if you like lounge music like I do,
that's not such an issue. ;)

It does give rise to the question of whether the flatness of the
response curve correlates well with perceived quality in FR drivers,
and since many of the most expensive and highly regarded drivers
are not very flat at all, the relationship is tenuous.

Drama and sizzle.... Modern recordings being what they are, I think we'll find more 'boring' speakers getting more attention

:bawling:

re:Bu20 in klam - back some distance its' impressive as a PA or party - up close it overloaded the camera's mic and some of that "sea-shell" ricochet is real due to so much indirect radiation. Regular Karlson can sound pretty good imo and I'd take K15/K12 and couple of 18K over my Edgarhorn (or my limited experience with OB) system for lounge music - if Arthur Lyman and Jimmy Roselli fit that category (?)

Nelson - do you run BU20 by itself on baffles or mainly with woofer? - is it on 3x5 for that graph and listening? - do you like it better on the baffle than your t-line?
