i just built my first set of speakers the half changs i have them hooked up to my turn table thru the bugle pre amp then thru a gain clone amp i built the speakers sound good but the mids and highs sound to strong to me is there any thing i can do to help lower the mids i have dampened the back and one side of the box any other ideas would be great

The speakers look great.
I think that a baffle step correction (commonly abbreviated BSC) filter will solve your problem. You probably need 3 to 4 dB of attenuation. There is an Excel based calculator on my site, under the General Speaker Related Articles link, that will help you size the components. |

I doubt it. The problem you describe is a classic baffle step response. The most effective way to cure it is with a filter. Try it, it is adjustable and you can easily remove it if you are not satisfied.

If you can find Paul Joppa's article on line level BSC, you'll certainly save yourself a little money and efficiency.
I can't seem to find it though. I know he mentions it on the bottlehead site though. edit: ESP also has a line level BSC. Don't know how well it works though. |

i found the articale thanks for all the help i orderd the parts from madisound i will start tweaking this weakend thanks again for all the help
