I want to make a pair of open baffle speakers. As my daughter will be the main listener, they will need to be played loud.
I wanted to make a high efficiency pair, and mate it with a St-70 run in triode mode (20 Watts) so efficiency and high spl are questions I'm not finding answers to. How loud do these full range speakers go in an open baffle? What happens to the efficiency of a speaker in an open baffle? paul |

The one and only

It's not far from the maximum output of the FR, depending on the
woofers. Typically you need a little more power on the bottom, especially if you Eq it, but I use 25W on the bottom and 15 on the top and it plays loud enough for me. Any more and you will degrade your ears over time.
