Advice welcomed on Homage to Aria project
Hello to all.
I'm a new member of the forum and a novice speaker builder. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions on the attached design, which is an attempt to replicate the Aria bipole speaker that was offered for a while by Alegria Audio but is no longer available.
Why the Aria? I've been listening to bass reflex and sealed speakers all my life, and I want to try a full-range in a listening room with a fair amount of discretion on placement. I don't want to use a subwoofer or complicated crossover. The aesthetics of the Aria appeal to me more than many of the bipole designs (both virtual and real) I've discovered on this forum. The speakers are for music, not home theater, so I'm not concerned about chest-thumping bass.
The external dimensions were of course easy to replicate. What I'm not sure about is the kind of bracing and ducting to use inside the speaker. I've drawn a simple transmission line with two braces that will stiffen the cabinet and provide support for stuffing experiments. Does the design seem a reasonable place to start? Or should I use some kind of folded line instead?
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.
