What to expect from Sachiko?

I'm getting tooled up to build a pair of Sachikos and reading as much about the materials and the design as I can. Yet, I can't seem to find anything about what to expect from them in terms of sound. What little I have found suggests that they aren't very good with most genres of music by design unless you filter out anything under 500Hz and use a subwoofer. This I suppose doesn't really bother me.

I listen to pretty much everything and anything. Rock, Hip-Hop, Electronic, Classical, Jazz, Funk, Soul, Country, Reggae most of which is on vinyl. Though, I'm starting to get discouraged when I read that this (fullrange BLH) may be a poor choice for me. There is a lot of great technical discussion on this forum and I have learned a lot here, but there is very little IMO in terms of practical application. Is it a case that there just isn't any information on how these perform in varied music listening? The only review I have found seems as though the writer pretty much only listens to jazz, so his opinion IMO is a bit poor. If it's a case of no one trying to listen to other genre on them I'll glady build them and report how they work out. They seem liked they would make great home theatre speakers anyway.

I know that the search on this forum is weak, and that comments on sonics will be buried amounst many other posts, butthey are there. I make a point of following comments on these designs, and i don't recall any negatives except those that can be directly attribured to stock FE206e (or that they prefer Saburo overall). Even comments of turning off the sub.

Hi , I had a good experiance with the Sachikos ... And listened to all kinds of music ...
What I loved most was the sound of voices , acoustic instruments and small fine groups of small fine musicians ... hehehe
I tried this speaker with Fostex 206E together with a Paramount 2A3 ... so maybe with a little more "power" this combi would have stayed a little longer at my home ...
Got La Scalas now and they do rock !!!

hifisucks, i know what the designer recommends but would like to know your findings on how dependent they were with room placement, wrt distances from rear, side and corner walls and room size?

Well I can only say two things : Titties and beer ...

No ... I only could place them about 6 feet apart and 3 feet from the wall behind in my 370 square foot room ...

The best sound for me was about 20 feet away ...

Eh?!? Where on Earth did you get that idea?

I have a feeling you may have completely misinterpreted / misunderstood some design-related comments about the folding scheme, which helps filter off frequencies above a certain point (not 500Hz -that's far too high) & prevent them corrupting the midband.

They should do for a variety of musical genres. No FR driver, run solo, can match the performance of couple of HE 15in / 18in woofers per channel, but they're probably in the top percentage of air-shifters in the unsupported FR driver world. Last time I heard any, in a 130ft x 80ft hall, they shook the windows.
