Zigmahornet build- Help im new

I couldnt find anything on the vampyr. I think im gonna buy the FE127e's bc there seems to be alot more boxes out there for it that sound better.

Any other suggestions?

Not quite, Vampyr[e] was designed for the FE103E. Venom was designed for the FE127E.

I reckon we're going to have to have a pruning session Dave -too many spawns.

Venom is for the FE127e... i was talking to someone else about Venom just before that post (and watching a Jet Li movie) and this thread was about the Zigma which uses FE103 so you can understand my confusied state

Venom is about the same height as Vampr but quite a bit chunker.

Designed in the same form factor as the Zigma, but it should actually work. A new design, no-one has reported back yet on a build.

As I mentioned in my "FE103E" thread, if there was a truncated version of the Vampyr, I would certainly build it. It could be a large bookshelf design being a little wider, quite a bit deeper and a heck of a lot shorter, getting those mouths much much closer to the driver so they can work in small, short rooms... Just like bookshelf speakers.

I thought the Vampyr was made for the 103 thats y i asked if a 127 would fit in there.

Are the angles still the same for the deflector on the Venom (41 and 49) or are they diff since the box is a little bigger?

Red Line is the sim, green line is my rough guessimate based on the sim of where it ends up once the high aspect ratio port comes into play... the horn loading might lift it a bit more than shown. Scott?

It also illustrates one of the reasons why the FR were removed from the plans page... (we are working on a side-bar so that people can make their own guesstimates)

I love the look of those tall thin designs, i might try the Venom version for the fe127e once i finish the Fonken.

Well since i already had the wood cut, i wanted to finish the zigmahornets neways. No need to waste all that wood!

My question is, can i use a less expensive speaker in this cabinet, like say a Tang Band W4-616SA? I looked at the specs and they seem to be pretty close. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Personally, I would say you could feel free to experiment since the cab is (in my newbie opinion) simply acting as a sort of wrapper (infinite baffle) to limit cancelation due to the backwave. Not saying it doesn't sound good though -- I'm only saying it's not really calculated to provide some specific support in the bass like most cabs are.
