Primed and painted!! no more bare MDF look, and more importantly, no more MDF smell.

here they are after 2 coats of "MDF Primer" (which is apparently also a sealer, but obviously nowhere near as good as a dedicated sealer, especially on the edges) :

and here they are painted with "black cherry" paint!

I was aiming for a deep red, but got a more purply colour. paint sample cards lie i tells you! LIE!!

both primer and paint were applied with the good ol' brush technique, and as a result it actually looks like real wood was used because you can see and very slightly feel (after sanding with up to 2000 grit) the "grain", which is really just brush strokes

next time try tinting the primer as well
